Clinical Supervision

As a registered psychotherapist integrating traditional and holistic approaches, I offer clinical supervision that nurtures your unique development as a practitioner. Our work together creates a space for deep reflection, professional growth, and ethical practice.

Supervision Philosophy

The College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) identifies five broad categories of prescribed therapies: Cognitive and behavioural therapies, Experiential and humanistic therapies, Psychodynamic therapies, Somatic therapies, and Systemic and collaborative therapies. These are broad categories identified to help psychotherapists situate where their practice falls in the spectrum of modalities.

Please review the CRPO Clinical Supervision Requirements.

My approach as a psychotherapist and supervisor is best described as eclectic and integrative. My supervision can speak to approaches from all five categories. I can add psychedelic and spiritual work to this list. My highest priority is to work collaboratively to help you develop your voice and confidence as a psychotherapist while maintaining the highest standards of care for your clients. Exploring ethics, competency, professionalism, the business of private practice, and continued learning are all important aspects of supervision.

Who I Support

I work with RP (Q)s who are making their way toward CRPO independent practice and established therapists seeking fresh perspectives. My specialized area of focus and expertise is Psychedelic Assisted Therapy (PAT). Therapists can work with me individually or in dyads, which is where you and another therapist meet with me together. I will be offering small group supervision soon.

The Supervision Experience

I approach supervision as a mentor. We will focus on who you are as a psychotherapist—values, knowledge, skills. We will look through the regulatory lens at how you practice to ensure your work meets the professional competencies required for regulation by the CRPO. Also, we will assess your continued development as a psychotherapist—where your future interests lie, what will keep you interested and inspired in your work, and how you commit to adequate self-care.

Frequently Asked Questions

Each supervision session is designed to be collaborative and tailored to your individual needs. Whether you’re participating in individual, dyadic, or group supervision, we will focus on case conceptualization, treatment planning, self-care, and other topics relevant to your growth as a practitioner.

Of course! My approach to supervision is flexible and responds to your specific goals and challenges. We can focus on areas that matter most to you, whether it’s building clinical skills, enhancing your business acumen, or integrating self-care practices into your day-to-day.

Choosing the right supervision format depends on your personal learning style and professional needs. Individual supervision offers personalized guidance, dyadic supervision allows for collaborative learning with a peer, and group supervision provides a supportive community environment. My experience has shown me that a combination of all three is most beneficial. The CRPO allows half of your supervision hours to come from small group and half to come from individual and/or dyadic. Most or all supervision hours can come from individual/dyadic without limit. Group is limited to half of your supervision hours.

You will need to provide me with an updated list of all the clients that you see under my supervision. I will explain how to prepare that. This is required for me to do my best in this role and to be able to sign off on your supervision hours with me. Come with any cases or topics you’d like to discuss. It’s helpful to reflect on your recent experiences, any challenges you’re facing, and specific areas where you seek guidance. This preparation ensures we make the most of our time together. Supervision isn’t just about improving clinical skills; it’s also about taking care of yourself as a practitioner. We work together to integrate self-care practices into your professional routine, helping you maintain balance and avoid burnout, so you can continue to support your clients effectively. Supervision is not therapy for the supervisee, and it is still a supportive experience. Regular therapeutic support is essential for your continued growth and ability to hold your clients.

If you need to reschedule, please let me know at least 48 hours in advance, and we’ll find a new time that works for both of us. I strive to be as flexible as possible while maintaining our schedule.

Confidentiality is a top priority in all supervision sessions, including groups. Each participant is expected to maintain strict confidentiality about the cases and discussions that occur in our sessions, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for everyone. At initiation of each working group, we go over confidentiality and create agreements that make the group supportive, non-judgmental and inclusive.

Once you enroll, we can start as soon as our schedules align. I’m committed to getting you started promptly so you can begin benefiting from supervision and continue your path toward independent status.
